Dear EAEC Families,

My name is Taveras J. Crump and I am the proud Principal of the East Aurora Extension Campus. I am beginning my seventh year as a member of the District 131 staff and I am also a proud graduate of East Aurora High School! The start of the 2023-2024 academic year will mark the beginning of my 22nd year as an educator. Before arriving at the East Aurora Extension Campus, I worked for twelve years as a social studies teacher at Neuqua Valley High School and three years as a Dean of students at Plainfield South High School. I also served as a boys’ basketball coach in each of the two high schools where I have served. As previously mentioned, I graduated from East Aurora High School and then went on to attend Eastern Illinois University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. I earned my Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis in 2008. All of these experiences have prepared me to serve our community and the students of District #131.

We are looking forward to the start of school on Wednesday, August 23. We will continue to prioritize student’s education as well as school safety and security. As part of these measures, we will continue our practice of conducting non-invasive searches of each student upon their arrival each day. Students are discouraged from bringing their backpacks or purses to school as we will provide all school supplies necessary for each student each day. If backpacks or purses are brought to school then they will be searched and students who bring backpacks will be required to check them in after the backpack has been searched. In order to focus on providing the best education possible, we need each of our students to behave in an appropriate manner and to comply with all school rules. Inappropriate behavior and or verbal or physical altercations will result in appropriate consequences being issued. Again, our focus is to ensure that we can prioritize student’s education and students engaging in appropriate school behavior allows us to accomplish this goal.

Our staff and I eagerly await the opportunity to work with our students this year. We are confident that we will have a fantastic year, defined by academic achievement and working with our students in the safest and most responsible ways possible. We have a wonderful staff of dedicated and dynamic teachers and support staff at the East Aurora Extension Campus! Each and every day we collectively strive to prepare our students to be college and career ready. Our school serves a select group of students from throughout the district and we are able to maintain a low student to teacher ratio to help provide the best quality instruction that we can for each student. We pride ourselves on preparing our students for life after high school. Again, our students first day of school will be Wednesday, August 23. We will operate on the high school schedule, which will be shared on the District #131 website.

Please assist us by ensuring that your son/daughter is ready to go on the first day. If you have not completed online registration for your son/daughter, please do so today. If you are unsure as to how to complete this process, please call us at (630) 299-3084 and we will be glad to assist you.

Mi nombre es Taveras J. Crump y soy el orgulloso Director de East Aurora Extension Campus (Campus de extensión) ¡Estoy comenzando mi séptimo año como miembro del personal del Distrito 131 y también soy un orgulloso graduado de East Aurora High School El inicio del año escolar 2023-2024 marcará el comienzo de mi 22º año como educador. Antes de llegar a East Aurora Extension Campus, trabajé durante 12 años como maestro de estudios sociales en Neuqua Valley High School y tres años como decana de estudiantes en Plainfield South High School. También he sido entrenador de básquetbol de chicos en cada una de las dos escuelas preparatorias en las que he servido. Como ya he dicho, me gradué en East Aurora High School y luego fui a la Eastern Illinois University, donde obtuve una licenciatura en Historia. Como parte de estas medidas, continuaremos con nuestra práctica de realizar registros no invasivos de cada estudiante al llegar cada día. No se recomienda a los estudiantes traer sus mochilas o bolsos a la escuela, ya que proporcionaremos todos los útiles escolares necesarios para cada estudiante cada día. Si se traen mochilas o bolsos a la escuela, se revisarán y los estudiantes que traigan mochilas deberán registrarlas después de que la mochila haya sido revisada. Para poder enfocarnos en proveer la mejor educación posible, necesitamos que cada uno de nuestros estudiantes se comporte de manera apropiada y cumpla con todas las reglas de la escuela. El comportamiento inadecuado o los altercados verbales o físicos tendrán las consecuencias apropiadas. Una vez más, nuestro objetivo es garantizar que podemos dar prioridad a la educación de los estudiantes y los estudiantes que participan en el comportamiento escolar adecuado nos permite lograr este objetivo.

Nuestro personal y yo esperamos con ansia la oportunidad de trabajar con nuestros estudiantes este año. Estamos seguros de que tendremos un año fantástico, definido por los logros académicos y el trabajo con nuestros estudiantes de la forma más segura y responsable posible. En el East Aurora Extension Campus contamos con un equipo maravilloso de maestros y personal de apoyo dedicados y dinámicos. Todos y cada uno de los días nos esforzamos colectivamente por preparar a nuestros estudiantes para la universidad y la carrera profesional. Nuestra escuela atiende a un grupo selecto de estudiantes de todo el distrito y somos capaces de mantener una baja proporción de estudiantes por maestro para ayudar a proporcionar la mejor calidad de instrucción que podemos para cada estudiante. Estamos orgullosos de preparar a nuestros estudiantes para la vida después de la preparatoria. De nuevo, el primer día
