New student program celebrates early successNew student program celebrates early success

On September 27, a brand new pilot program celebrated some early success, as 16 high school students from East Aurora were recognized for completing a three-week training program. The ceremony took place at the Prisco Center, and the new program, called “East Aurora Excel Academy”, or “(EA)2”, targets students ages 17 to 19 years old, and provides job-readiness skills and employment opportunities. (EA)2 partners with the Quad County Urban League and workforce partners such as Prologis, as well as NICOR Gas, ComEd, and UPS. Students participating in the pilot attended the Urban League’s Dunham Career Center. In the days ahead, our Tomcats will also receive educational support to improve attendance and achieve graduation. The program is just one of many ways District 131 is focused on our strategic plan goals of educational equity and student achievement. Thank you to the Quad County Urban League for this new partnership, and a great big thank you to Prologis, who served as our first workforce partner. Most of all, congratulations to our students who have taken brave new steps toward education and career success!
